Biography

A digital publishing specialist and scholar of American music, Jesse's work employs new technologies for scholarly expression to make relationships between race, place, and American culture publicly accessible.

Jesse develops approaches to thematic research collection and digital edition publishing as project director and editor-in-chief of Sounding Spirit, an NEH-funded research lab and publishing initiative promoting engagement with historical American songbooks, and as product owner of Readux, a platform for teaching and publishing with digitized books.

He advocates for open-access, interdisciplinary, and multimodal journal publishing on the editorial board of Atlanta Studies and as consulting editor of Southern Spaces.
